Our First Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, when through the warm home,
Ben and Vanessa were snuggling alone.
The stockings were hung on the curtain rod up high,
stuffed to the brim so no one could spy.
The couple was nestled all snug in their room
WIth the anticipation of presents, they knew would be soon.
Ben and his pjs and I in my night gown
We listened for Santa but heard not a sound.
When in the middle of the night, Ben snuck out so quiet,
to place all the presents so I wouldn't know who supplied it.
Tenderly he placed all the gifts wrapped with care,
with hopes that I would open and hug him like a bear.
We awoke early morning and bustled to the tree
and kissed under it's branches, just him and she...
Warm banana pancakes in our bellies
and satisfied tummies.
"Now Herb Garden! Now Boots! Now purse and scarf! Now Blazer!
On ipod! On x-box! On books and Electric Razor!
To the top of the pile to the bottom of the heap,
Now put away! put away! Our pile to keep.
Together they drove off to the family house swiftly,
for food, sweets, love and and some more gifts that were nifty,
And the neighbors heard them exclaim, 'ere they drove out to play,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good day!"
